Various blogs related to technology on Tuesday began reporting that new measure that Apple is planning to introduce next month. Their report showed the confirmation that several developers received a notice from Apple advising them to comply when September begins. Part of the notice read that “Frequent/Simulated gambling in all country” will soon be rated +17.
The notice was part of an email released during a discussion between Apple and the government of South Korea. This Asian nation was seeking a chance to have more space in the country’s Apple Store.
The plan to have all betting-related apps to be rated +17 will be global, but South Korea will be privileged to obtain additional restrictions. Apps with sexual content & nudity, alcohol, and drugs will be rated +19 when the move commences. Any other app with violent content will equally be prohibited to customers below 19 years of age.
Apple and Gambling
Just recently, Apple, in its latest restriction, announced the introduction of Apple credit card targeting gambling services but with limitations. In June, Apple shocked the industry when it made an obligation barring real money gambling apps from including HTML5 casino games. The June directive will require gambling apps featuring real dosh to omit HTML5 for the chance to be accommodated in Apple App as from September 3.
According to eGaming Review, Bet365 has removed all casino games from its Apple betting app. eGaming Review added that the UK gambling giants took that move to ensure compliance when the deadline elapses. However, reports are further indicating that other companies are successfully managing to bypass the new Apple app demand.
Apple is aiming to compel developers “to help make the App Store safe for kids,” a message that was included in the email notice to developers. The media has recently featured a lot of speculation regarding the position that exists between gaming and gambling. The issue of loot boxes and the real money casino that Grand Theft Auto launched are controversial sections that media has dwelled on.
