Up and coming developer Kalamba looks to the Oktoberfest-hype to build their 42nd game, Beers on Reels. It is common for developers to do so at this time of the year, but what motivated this particular release is the postponement of this year’s celebrations because of the ongoing pandemic. So, to all of those who were looking forward, don your lederhosen, Bavarian hats, dirndls, and vomit-proof sneakers, pour yourself a stein of beer, and let’s give Beers on Reels a good spin! Oh, by the way, Paris Hilton is not banned from having a go at this one.

Overview, Algorithm Stats, and Paytable
If you have attended Munich’s Oktoberfest or any other Volksfest in Germany, the preview scene Beers on Reels opens up to will sure bring back some memories. You can see a waitress donning a traditional dirndl, beer mugs on tables, and beer barrels that could last for days. The only thing that’s missing is the usual racket inside a beer hall tent, but it’s probably drowned by the upbeat Umpapa tune playing in the background. Hit the continue button as prompted to reveal the 5X4 grid, where the action takes place.
Beers on Reels is playable on any internet-enabled device with bets ranging from €0.40-60. Kalamba has remained predictable when it comes to the math model, serving fans to what they usually expect from their releases. On skinning the slot, players get a 7/10 volatility rating, as well as a decent default Return to Player percentage that fluctuates between 96.18% and 97.26%. During our test run, the game was off to a slow start, but things got better after a while.

Players get forty paylines to land winners on. Winning combinations of at least three identical symbols are possible, counting from the leftmost reel onwards. The symbols themselves are spit into blackjack fillers and beer stein, sausages, pretzel, & accordion premiums, all of which rack up 12.5X at best.
Stacked Wilds
Beer casks appear on the reels as wilds. They can substitute for any regular payer to help complete winning combinations. The best thing about them is that they tend to show up stacked.
Collect the Golden Coins
Golden coins (wild collection symbols) engraved with beer mug images can also show up on reels one, three, and five. These fill up the 3-slot meters above the respective reels to trigger the wild column feature. Here, the triggering reel turns wild for three consecutive spins or until no more wild collection symbols show up on that reel.
Bonus Round
The waitress in a dirndl makes appearances on the grid as the scatter. Land at least three scatters to trigger ten free spins and a 3X payout. During our test run, the bonus round often led to some great hits because any stacked wilds in view would remain in position until all the free spins were depleted.
Complete the Missions!
At the helm of Beers on Reels’ features are the newfangled missions, which allow the player to collect a certain symbol type over a certain number of spins. To select or resume a saved mission, you just have to hit the “i” button at the side of the grid. Players will be thrilled to find out that wins of up to 1000X are possible with the Platinum option.
Beers on Reels – Our Verdict
Beers on Reels by Kalamba is a slot that has so much going for it. It was exciting to see the reels fill up like a stein of beer from the beer taps atop to form wild reels, not to mention the surprise wins brought about oft-times by the missions. It is not without flaws, however. Like a typical Kalamba release, Beers on Reels is held-back potential-wise, with the greatest non-mission win being 500X (12.5X on forty paylines). Sure, not many get to walk away with a slot’s max potential, but it sure helps to know that it is decent enough to make big wins on a single spin a possibility. That said, this one’s ideal for the casual players who don’t mind seeing what it is capable of in the long haul.
