What will the world NOT bet on? Supposedly, nothing, which is reaffirmed by odds on actors that are rumored to take up the role of James Bond.
Many of the odds are on some surprising actors. However, the iconic MI6 agent is not new to being portrayed by surprising actors.
Pierce Brosnan (who portrayed the character from 1995) was not considered to be a top choice, as he was considered an outsider as an American and not as well-known.
The same could be said about the last 007 incarnation, Daniel Craig. Due to his modest popularity and appearance not suitable for James Bond (blond and blue-eyed), it was a surprise when he was cast for the role.
Top Candidates
According to the odds on William Hill, Tom Hiddleston (popular for portraying the role of Loki in the MCU) leads the way with odds set at +200 (30%).
Right behind is Cillian Murphy with +300 (25%) odds.
Both are prolific actors, seemingly fitting for the role of 007. However, what unites them is the public image from playing villains, which is especially the case with Murphy.
Following close are Richard Madden of Game of Thrones fame (+300), James Norton and Idris Elba (+500) – one of the earliest candidates to be rumored for the role.

- Rami Malek (+800)
- Henry Cavill (+2500)
