Paint

In the context of card games, the term paint cards is a slang term used to refer to face cards (the Jack, the Queen, and the King). The cards take their name from the fact that, in a traditional deck, they are the only cards to feature more than one color in their design. This is in contrast with the rest of the classic 52 card casino deck:

  • Number cards from 2 to 10 are monochromatic, either black or red;
  • Aces are also monochromatic;
  • Despite featuring colors, Jokers are not counted as paint cards, because they are a recent invention and a wild card

Paint cards:

  • Jacks, Queens, and Kings
