Common as they get, the setting for this one is on a pirate ship right under the bowsprit where the bow should be. The graphical finish is top tier, though, sticking to Silverback Gaming’s mission of keeping things simple but wowing, nonetheless. A full-screen button is available for those who like to play slots on the big screen.
Buccaneer wannabes can set sail by setting bets ranging from 0.4 to 40 Euros. They shouldn’t expect the smoothest of journeys, however, since the game is highly volatile. In other words, The Golden Sail is a game capable of dishing out a fair count of dead spins right before making things right with a nice hit. The theoretical RTP percentage is below average at 95%, the same we got in the last two Silverback Gaming releases, Aztec Luck and Mystery Stacks. It can, however, increase by 0.25% if a player decides to use the buy feature.

Wins form whenever at least three of a kind connect, counting from the leftmost reel. Unfortunately, symbol values are not enough to entice a seadog. They start with blackjack icons, offering rewards of up to 3.75x. Pirate treasure maps, grog casks, compasses, and coffers follow, racking up better rewards of up to 10x. The wild symbols, which take the shape of bombs as cartoons depict them (?) help cobble wins together by substituting for the regulars. They are also the premier payers on their own, paying rewards ranging from 1 to 12.5x.
Big Wheel Bonus
Perhaps to keep things simple, the developer crams all the features on the big wheel placed right above the playing area. It is triggered by landing three bonus symbols and spins to award 50x, Pick Me bonus, Trail Bonus, or free spins.
Instant 50x
Those who fancy skipping the unknowns of slot gameplay to walk away with a guaranteed prize won’t turn away this 50x.
Pick Me Bonus
A pick and click game that presents players with coffers to chose from. The most valuable coffer holds an impressive 5000x!
The Trail Bonus
The trail bonus allows you to progress through different multiples of the current bet up to 10000x! Instead of coffers, you click on one of six coins, which reveals a number that ranges from one to six. If you land 6, for instance, then you will advance through six prizes on the trail. Whether you get to progress depends on whether you get the +Again prompt after a progression.
Bonus Round
20x bet plus ten free spins get awarded here. The session has a base multiplier of 1x, which increases by +1 on every spin. Retriggers are possible, with a scatter symbol adding two additional rounds to the free spins tally.
Feature Buy
Rather than wait to trigger the big wheel bonus conventionally, you can use the buy feature to access it for 85 times the bet. Of course, this feature is not availed by all providers.
The Golden Sail- Our Verdict
Compared to what we have seen from Silverback previously, The Golden Sail is slot 2.0. It has great potential for one, not to mention the playability brought about the simplicity. There are a few areas where you feel a need for some tweaks, though. For instance, the developer should have done away with the 50x reward on the bonus wheel (when triggered with feature buy). Having to settle for 50x can be disappointing, having invested 85x in the first place. There’s also the bonus round, where you feel the developer should have done better, perhaps with a higher base multiplier. All in all, an imperfect slot, but one that shows an up-and-coming developer headed in the right direction.
