Vietnam Police Issue a Report on the $1bn Gambling Ring

There have been new developments in the illegal Vietnamese gambling ring case. After 22 people were arrested on Monday, April 29th, a Taiwanese citizen living in Vietnam was apprehended on May 2nd.

The illegal online gambling ring was estimated to be worth $1.28bn. This makes it the largest gambling operation in Vietnam. The operation also presumably involved the chief inspector of the Vietnamese Information Ministry, who was arrested last week.

According to the police, more than 4,000 people were involved in operating gambling sites. However, the server of the network was located outside Vietnam.

The police claim that cryptocurrency was used to transfer money to a certain account. The account belonged to the group that was under investigation was connected to illegal gambling activities.

Considering the latest arrest, 23 people are now in custody. 13 of them have been indicted on charges of “organizing gambling activities.” Meanwhile, the other 10 were arrested for the act of gambling itself.
