In land-based casinos and gambling venues, the cashier’s cage is a place where players can exchange their money for chips (and vise versa). The cashier’s cage is called that because the cash register usually looks like a cage surrounded by bars. This is done for security reasons.
If the casino uses chips and does not allow you to gamble with cash directly, you have to visit the cashier’s cage to exchange your money before you can start playing.
