In the context of card games, a down card is a card that is dealt face down by the dealer. For obvious reasons, this term can only be used in card games in which there are also cards that are dealt face up.
For example, in Texas Hold’em poker, the players are dealt their cards face-down, while the community cards are dealt face-up.
