Gambler Wins £10k from a 21-Year-Old Bet on Judd Trump

Not many are familiar with the world of snooker. However, the recent victory of 29-year-old Judd Trump at the World Snooker Championship has resonated with many people, including in the betting world. One lucky gambler, for example, won £10,000 from a bet he made on Judd Trump 21 years ago.

Neil Morrice, now 62, has placed £10 on then 8-year-old Trump to win World Snooker Championship before the age of 30. He was given 1000/1 odds by the bookmaker Coral. Now, the bet finally paid off.

Morrice placed the bet in 1998, after seeing Trump beating his son at a snooker club in Bristol. Apparently, the future champion came up to Morrice and his son, offering a game with a 20-point start for the opponent. Needless to say, he won easily.

Morrice immediately got on the phone with bookmaker to negotiate a bet. Seeing that the future champion was just 8 years old, the bookmaker agreed on a massive odd. It’s not as massive of a blow compared to the recent bookies’ payouts for Tiger Woods win. However, Coral will now surely be more attentive to such weird bets.

Interestingly, this year’s tournament was Morrice’s last chance to win the bet. Trump is now 29 and he failed in his previous final in 2011.
