Gambler Wins $1.2m From Tiger Woods’ Win While Bookmakers Suffer

Despite many the bookmaker odds and skepticism, Tiger Woods has won his fifth Golf US Masters. Many bettors are now counting their wins, while the bookmakers that provided less than favorable odds are now counting losses.

One anonymous gambler has wagered $85,000 on Woods, who had the odds of 14/1, which resulted in a colossal $1.2m win. This came as a total shocker for most bookmakers, as Tiger Woods did not grab any major titles since 2008, while his last Masters victory dates back as far back as 2005.

One of golf’s greatest comeback cost one William Hill’s outlet in Las Vegas “seven figures” in losses, according to their representative. A similar situation occurred with FanDuel, who lost more than $3m, as not only did bettors wager on him, the bookmaker was so sure of Wood’s loss that they promised players refunds if he won, as a part of a contest.

For many bookmakers, these were the largest payouts behind NFL’s finale back in February. However, many did not turn to profit, as opposed to the revenue generated by the Super Bowl bets.
