Gamblers Disapprove of Smoking, Poll by Brian Christopher Reveals

An online poll by popular slot streamer Brian Christopher (aka BCSlots) revealed that only about 20% of gamblers smoke tobacco. Moreover, nearly all of the members of his audience that do smoke still prefer to gamble in non-smoking casinos (provided smoking patios are available). These results break the commonly held stereotype of gamblers being less health-conscious and prone to drinking and smoking.

The popular streamer released the poll to his 300,000 subscribers in early July of 2020. Seventy percent of those polled identified as male, and the other 30% identified as female. The majority of the audience (53%) were between the ages of 40 and 59. About a third of the respondents were over sixty years of age. And the rest were between the ages of 18 and 39.

The survey revealed that only around 20% of the slot streamer’s global audience considered themselves smokers. This is the same exact figure as the World Health Organization’s reported global average. This means that gamblers are neither more prone to smoking, nor are they less prone to it.

What is perhaps most interesting is that close to 90% of the surveyed smokers said they would prefer to play at a casino that did not allow indoor smoking, provided an option for outdoor smoking was made available. This falls in line with another finding of the survey: the fact that gamblers are more educated about the harmful effects of smoking than the average person. A whopping 95% reported that they believed secondhand smoke was directly harmful to people’s health.

You can find the full breakdown of the survey on Brian Christopher’s official website.
