Gates of Olympus is Pragmatic Play’s second outing to the famed abode of the Greek Gods. Like in the first one, Greek Gods™, Zeus takes center stage, this time awarding multipliers of up to 500x for payouts of up to 5000x. That’s 4000x more! Let’s get into the details without further ado.

Graphics-wise, Gates of Olympus is a Pragmatic Play release to the core. There is the usual glistening Red Tiger-ish finish, not to mention the characteristic UI.
As for the layout, Pragmatic Play steps up the game with a 5×6 grid. There is a mention about it utilizing 20 paylines, but that shouldn’t matter much as the left-right orientation rule doesn’t apply. Wins get determined by the number of identical symbols in view.
Those wanting to ascend Mount Olympus can do so with bets ranging from 0.25 to 125 dollars. It is not an easy climb, though, seeing that Pragmatic Play has filled all the volatility bars on the volatility meter this time. As the developer puts it, Gates of Olympus will pay out less often, but things can take a quick turn, especially when Zeus takes over. Speaking of Zeus, the graphics department just rendered him like in the first Mount Olympus outing. That is a triggered old dude with a huge white beard. They found him a spot at the side of the grid, though.
Another important stat to mention is the Return to Player percentage, which is rated 96.5%. It is well above average, so nothing to complain about there.
On each spin, each reel lands five symbols from the paytable. While the lower end of the scale is represented by differently shaped jewels, the high end is represented by random objects from Greek Culture. The highest paying is a crown, which racks up an impressive 50x for twelve to thirty (full grid) appearances.
Tumbles
Winning symbols are removed to be replaced by new ones gravitating from the top. This could result in a new winning combination, which leads to yet another tumble and possibly another win. Essentially, tumbles only come to an end when wins cease.
Multiplier Symbols
Multiplier symbols are represented by gems that are enclosed by circles. They can land on any spin to award a win multiplier ranging from two to five hundred times the bet. Impressive!
Important to note, the values of the multiplier symbols landed during tumbles are aggregated at the end. The total figure is then applied to the sum of the wins from all the tumbles.
Bonus Round
Fifteen rounds on the house get triggered whenever four scatters land in view. Scatters are also payers, awarding 3, 5, and 100x for four, five, and six appearances, respectively.
Multiplier symbols continue to show up here, but there’s a multiplier meter aggregating the values from all the winning rounds. So, let’s say you manage to get a 2x multiplier during the first spin (assuming that it is a winner). That round will be subjected to the 2x multiplier as the multiplier figure gets saved on the meter. Now, if you manage to land a 2x multiplier (or any value) on another winning free spin, the total multiplier to be applied to that win will be 4x.
Bonus Retriggers
Five additional free spins are awarded whenever you land three scatters. We found this quite helpful on those rounds where we had accumulated a huge multiplier.
Ante Bet
Like any modern Pragmatic Play release, Gates of Olympus ships with Ante Bet. Put simply, it is a feature that allows players to stake a little bit more to get increased chances of triggering the bonus round in return.
Bonus Buy
Players can part with 100x bet and hop straight into the bonus round. Important to note, switching on Ante Bet disables Bonus Buy.
Gates of Olympus- Our Verdict
If we were to compare it to Greek Gods, Gates of Olympus is a better slot by all parameters. That is not only judging by the potential but also by its playability, courtesy of features such as Bonus Buy and Ante Bet. You could just concentrate on the bonus round for a guaranteed return in one of every five takes.
There are some areas where you feel that it could do with some tweaks. First, it would have been great if multipliers from non-winning free spins went into the aggregate. Second, a 5000x potential cap is a bit low for a slot with booster multipliers that can reach an astounding 500x.
