Drop

In the context of land-based gambling, the verb to drop means putting money or chips into the drop box, a small, safe-like contraption used by the casino to store cash and chips safely.

Players put money into the drop box to exchange it for chips. They also may need to put their chips into the drop box to exchange them for chips of other denominations (for example, when coloring out).

Alternatively, a casino player might perform the same money exchange operation in the cashier’s cage. This is often required when dealing with larger sums of money.
