George

In the context of casino gambling, a George is a slang term indicating a generous player who gives good, frequent tips to the casino’s staff. Rather than being used by players, the term is usually only used by dealers and only when talking with their colleagues. As tips can make up a large portion of a dealer’s salary, having a George at your table is considered a very desirable thing.

Are All Georges High-Rollers?

While it is true that most Georges are usually also high rollers who bet large sums of money (e.g. making dime bets), this is not always the case. It all depends on the individual person. Some wealthy players are tight-fisted, while some players betting small amounts may be generous.

When and How to Tip a Dealer?

Casino tipping etiquette varies from country to country. In general, most players will usually tip the dealer after winning a large bet or a large pot in a poker game. Some blackjack players will also tip the dealer when the dealer busts.

Each land-based gambling venue will have a slightly different tipping procedure, but, in general, all you have to do is separate the chips you want to tip from your main bet stack and let the dealer know what they can take.
