Avengers: Endgame Odds on Main Characters Dying, Ant-Man Killing Thanos and Deadpool Appearance

Continuing the theme of special bets and away from political odds, Avengers: Endgame, a film that will conclude a story arc 11 years in the making, is upon us, meaning that it’s time to bet on which characters will die in the film.

From fan theories of Ant-Man killing Thanos in… an unconventional way, to Captain America, Thor and even Iron Man perishing, let’s look at the most interesting odds for the upcoming Marvel flick.

Warning: spoilers ahead!

Odds on Thor, Iron Man, Captain America Dying in Avengers: Endgame

Since a majority of MCU characters died in Infinity War, having failed to prevent Thanos from clicking his fingers, most attention is centered on the original Avengers – all of whom survived.

Since the only three characters who had the most stand-alone films and are central to the development of MCU are Captain America, Thor and Tony Stark, most bets are offered on them as well.

It should be noted that all three actors portraying the characters have ended their agreements with Marvel, so their fates are not influenced by future films.

The odds on the heroes are as follows:

Character

Dies

Doesn’t Die

Iron Man

5/11

31/20

Captain America

31/20

5/11

Thor

31/20

5/11

Will Iron Man Die?

As seen above, according to some bookies, Iron Man is pretty much guaranteed to be killed in Endgame.

That would make sense, as he would feel guilty and would have a motive to avenge (no pun intended) Peter Parker, who fell in the previous film. Add that to him being the most titular hero in the franchise.

Furthermore, he also hints at his death in the trailer for the film and the fact that he promised Pepper Potts not to get into risky business anymore – a timeless cliche that foreshadows a character’s death.

However, Marvel is not known for taking dark turns and they might want to go for a happy ending. Besides, Marvel loves cameos from everyone and their grandmas: with cameo-master Stan Lee gone, Robert Downey Jr. would be a perfect candidate.

Still from Avengers: Endgame trailer that shows Tony Stark's heart.

Tony Stark’s “heart” could be a visual representation of Iron Man losing his life.

Will Captain America Die?

The bookmakers are not so sure about Captain America perishing. His demise would not be as dramatic as Tony Stark’s, but it would still make sense, seeing as he is the very first Avenger, known for self-sacrifice since his first appearance in the franchise.

Furthermore, Chris Evans was spotted teary-eyed on the set of the film, though it might just be from the fact that he is now finished with a role that launched him into stardom.

Even though Steve Roger’s chances of survival are bigger than of Tony Stark, he still might perish, alone or with the Iron Man.

Will Thor Die?

Though odds on the God of Thunder dying are the same as the First Avenger, it seems far less probable that he is the one to die from the hands of Thanos or otherwise.

Mainly, this is because of the whole character arc that took place during the last film. Not only is Thor a literal God, he has spent the majority of Infinity War seeking a weapon that could kill Thanos once and for all. He even came the closest of stopping him compared to other heroes.

Additionally, Hemsworth has hinted on doing more films about the King of Asgard in the future, even if his contract for the role is up.

Ant-Man Killing Thanos and Deadpool Appearance Odds

Another two major odds that attracted attention are definitely novelty ones. Feel free and add those to the list of weirdest bets.

First one stems from memes about Ant-Man, who could potentially shrink enough to get inside Thanos (in the only way possible without going through his head) and expand, killing the villain in the process.

Despite it being a joke, many took it as a serious possibility, with the odds being as short as 3/1. Paul Rudd even reacted to the theory:

Next is a probability of Deadpool making a cameo in the Endgame, following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which owns the rights not only to Deadpool but to X-Men and the Fantastic Four.

This would be fun, but improbable and unfitting to the style and story of the Avengers. Just think of Deadpool confusing Thanos with Cable, as both characters were played by Josh Brolin.

The odds here are a bit more realistic: only 15/2 for him to appear in Endgame.
