Crazy Bee Slot Review (Amatic)

For the latest addition to their fusty collection of online video slots, the developers at Amatic have gone for a title that might be recognizable to a brick-and-mortar cabinet pundit – Crazy Bee. That evocative title might hint that you are about to meet one frenzied stinger but launching the slot, you come across a genial bee fella who introduces you to the critter pals he comes across in his daily endeavors, including a caterpillar, garden snail, and a ladybug. And the best part – they have great rewards in store for you!

First Impression, Paytable, Rules, and Math Model

Crazy Bee’s layout is as clichéd as they get with just 5 reels and 3 rows in effect. Only 10 paylines are utilized across the board as indicated by the tiny numerals on either side of the grid, and on the controls tab as well. As for the skin, the developers have gone for a cartoonish look that brings out the theme-characters as rather intelligent, funny, and friendly.

Moving on to the paytable, the symbols thereon are split into two categories – low-payers and the premiums. While the low-payers are a bunch of blackjack icons, the premiums are tiny critters led by the protagonist bee. When it comes to triggering the wins, three of the low-payers are required on an active payline while the premiums just need two or more. Helping wax the winning combinations together is the star of the game who is also the premier symbol with rewards of up to 500X.

Playable from €10-3000, Crazy Bee is the sort of slot you would expect not to sting due to its rather easy-going hit rate, which is coupled with a medium volatility math model. The Default RTP was nowhere to be found at the time of writing, but judging by how responsive the slot was from the word go, it must be above average- 95%+.

Bonus Round with Full Retriggers

At the peak of Crazy Bee’s gameplay is a 10 free spins bonus round that is activated by landing at least 3 scatters, which take the shape of a bug donning a crown. On top of awarding the free spins, the scatter is also a paytable premium with not-so-bad rewards of 5X, 15X, and 50X for 3, 4, and 5 appearances respectively.

To be honest, you shouldn’t expect to see much difference between this round and the base game. Well, there is the ladybug symbol which only pays here, but it might decide not to show up altogether. The paytable doesn’t hint how much it is worth, but our test run revealed that there isn’t much to anticipate when it dished a mere 5X upon landing.

All in all, basking in free play should just be enough, and the prospect of endless retriggers makes it even better.

Verdict

Astonishingly, every single thing about Crazy Bee comes together to offer an all-round decent slot. It is not the most innovative effort from Amatic, but that’s pretty much the point – sticking to olds-school slots gameplay, where an unpredictable base game session culminates into a couple of rounds on the house.

The game is sure capable of big prizes, and it goes without saying that the chubby bee fella is the symbol you want to land not only because of his substitution powers but also because he is the top dog. Though highly improbable, lining up a full grid of his symbols will unlock the game’s biggest possible win multiplier, which is a whopping 5000X (500X on 10 Paylines).

To conclude, Crazy Bee won’t be everyone’s piece of cake – no slot ever was actually. But for those who fancy some uncluttered spinning action, those drawn to the theme, or those looking for an eye stunner, it might be worth a spin.
