A non-value chip is a casino chip that doesn’t have a pre-determined value. Instead, its value is determined during each individual gambling session.
In the vast majority of cases, the value of a non-value chip will be set based on the buy-in amount (the minimum bet). For example, during a 20-40 no-limit poker game, the non-value chip would be set at $20 USD.
Due to their flexibility, non-value chips are often used in home-based gambling and smaller gambling venues.
