In the context of poker games, such as Omaha and Texas Hold’em, the term pass is commonly used by players to indicate that they are either folding or checking. When the player folds, they pass on the increased bet and become inactive. When the player checks, they pass on their ability to increase the bet but remain an active player.
There is usually no confusion between the two meanings, because they play out in different situations. The term pass will be taken to mean “I fold” when the bet has been raised. And it will be taken to mean “I check” when there was no increase in the bet.
