In the context of stud poker games, such as Omaha and Texas Hold’em, the term pocket cards refers to the cards that are dealt face-down to the players by the dealer and create their starting hand. Pocket cards are more commonly referred to as hole cards.
Pocket cards are the opposite of community cards, which are dealt face-up in distinct stages (flop, turn, and river) and can be used by all gamblers at the table.
A general term for any card that is dealt face down by the dealer is down card.
