Slot Evolution Panel at ASEAN Gaming Summit 2019

Slots have always been profitable for operators if presented on the appropriate market. At ASEAN Gaming Summit 2019, two leading manufacturers of slot machines paired with two operators concluded that they could have excellent collaboration results.

During the Slot Evolution panel, several representatives of the field discussed the recent developments within the companies.

Those on the panel noted that they had not seen anything special in this area for quite some time, which motivated the operators to search for novelty from their providers.

The providers expressed a more optimistic view. Michael Cheers of IGT Asia noted that creating a good gaming slot machine takes a lot of time and the company must carefully select focus groups that can analyze and draw conclusions about the equipment of the game and its future prospects.

Jerry Chan (vice president of electronic gaming for Okada Manila) said that at the moment they were working on games in the style of Farmville or PlayStation. But in this direction, it is necessary to carry out a number of improvements as operators prefer games that take up less space so that they can be placed compactly.

The Summit also conducted a comparison of gaming markets. It was concluded that The Philippines have an excellent market for slot machines, as the market is new enough to change and have been trying out all the possible offers. Macau, on the contrary, offers traditional table games, which are more typical for a developed gambling market.

Filipino-styled slot games were given special attention. The question was raised about the previously declared lack of games. Robson noted that continuous work is underway on this omission. Sandy Amida (senior director of casino gaming operations for Resorts World Manila) said that they were looking for the best gaming solutions on Philippine theme for their casinos.

Some of the panel viewers, however, stated that he had previously offered Filipino games to the casinos and they refused him. In addition, he proposed a more suitable solution to this issue, noting that one should pay attention to the existing options, and not ask for free trials from providers. His proposal was taken into account by the committee and it was decided to reconsider its product.
