In the context of casino gambling, the term tapping out refers to a player losing their entire bankroll. As a result of which they have to either stop playing, go to the cashier’s cage to get more casino chips, or take out a line of credit with the casino (only available for high rollers).
There are many scenarios of how a player can tap out. The most common reasons for tapping out include:
- The player going on a cold streak and beginning to steam.
- The player going all-in during a game of poker and losing.
- The player getting unlucky when using a progressive betting strategy (Martingale, D’Alembert).
