In the context of poker games, such as Texas Hold’em or Caribbean Stud Poker, wired cards (aka back-to-back cards) are consecutively dealt cards that form a pair, three of a kind, or four of a kind hand.
For example, if you are dealt four aces at the start of a game of Omaha Hold’em as your down cards, that is considered a wired four of a kind.
Wired Card Probabilities
In Texas Hold’em, the probability of being dealt any wired pair is 1/17, and the probability of being dealt a specific wired pair (e.g. two kings) is 1/221.
In Seven Card Stud, the probability of being dealt any wired three of a kind is 1/425, and the probability of being dealt a specific three of a kind (e.g. three 8s) is 1/5,525.
